Dr. Kimura received his MD from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), completed an internal medicine residency at the University of California, San Francisco, and finished a cardiology fellowship at UCSD. Dr. Kimura currently serves as the Medical Director of the Echocardiography and Vascular Ultrasound Lab at Scripps Mercy Hospital, having held positions of Clinical Professor, Associate Program Director, and Chief of Cardiology. 


Board-certified in cardiovascular disease since 1995, Dr. Kimura has been voted one of San Diego’s Top Doctors for twenty consecutive years, a record unmatched by any physician in the region. A prolific researcher, Dr. Kimura has published over 80 scientific articles, including textbook chapters, and has earned international recognition for his pioneering work in hand-carried ultrasound technology.  As an educator, Dr. Kimura has received multiple teaching awards from the Scripps Mercy residency program and the Distinguished Teacher Award from the Southern California Chapter of the American College of Physicians. Nationally, he has achieved the prestigious “Master” designation from the American College of Physicians, a recognition shared by only one other cardiologist in San Diego.

Dr. Bobak Salami graduated from UCSD in 1994 with bachelor's degree in biochemistry. He then moved to Boston where he earned his medical degree at Tufts University (1998). He went on to train in Internal Medicine at University of Massachusetts Medical Center. Subsequently, he returned to California and completed a fellowship in Cardiovascular Medicine at Harbor UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, CA (2005). During his training at UCLA he became interested in Nuclear Cardiology and currently is board certified in both Cardiovascular Medicine and Nuclear Cardiology. He is the director of the nuclear stress lab at SDHVA.

Dr. Manish Wadhwa received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in 1993. TUAN MAI, MD

Dr. Tuan Mai is the medical director of the Cardiac Electrophysiology Lab at Scripps Mercy Hospital. 


He received his medical degree from the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine. He completed residency in internal medicine and was a chief resident at Scripps Mercy Hospital. Following residency, he completed a fellowship in cardiology and was chief cardiology fellow. Subsequently, he subspecialized in cardiac electrophysiology at Oregon Health and Science University. 


Dr. Mai's focus is in the care of patients with heart rhythm disorders (arrhythmia’s) via non-invasive and invasive therapies. This includes the treating slow heart rhythms through implantation of pacemakers, treating heart failure and risk of sudden cardiac death through implantation of defibrillators, and alleviating symptoms and curing certain arrhythmia’s through catheter ablation. He believes in collaborative decision-making with his patients.


After listening to his patients’ views, he will provide the latest evidence, and then discuss the risks and benefits of treatment options to come up with the best course of action together.
